TORY, THE INAUGURAL WINNER OF THE
DURHAM ROAD SCHOOL
ROTARY CITIZENSHIP AWARD

The Rotary Club of Morley would like to congratulate
Tory as the inaugural winner of the
Durham Road School Rotary Citizenship Award.

Tory has been at Durham Road School since
he first enrolled in Kindergarten in 2002.
During his 15 years at Durham Road,
Tory has approached his education with enthusiasm and a smile.
Tory and his family have always been active participants
in the school and wider community.
Tory’s citizenship is demonstrated in his generosity of spirit,
his genuine friendship, and his zest for life.

The 2016 Citizenship Award was presented
at the school’s Graduation evening by President Ian Bresland
 and Tony Pinnegar.
It was an extremely uplifting event that brought many to tears.
Tory’s name will now sit proudly on the Honour Board
to recognise his achievements and inspire others to follow.

Rotary Club of Esperance

The first Aboriginal student to be selected for a Rotary Youth Exchange
in Esperance says he is honoured by the accolade.
Wongutha CAPS student Joshua Cox applied for the program
 through the Esperance Rotary Club.
“I didn’t actually know that I would get selected,” Joshua said.
“I just tried out to see if I would actually get selected
and it took a couple of months to be processed.”
Joshua said he is excited about the trip.
“I have always wanted to go to America,
so this is a great opportunity,” he said.
“I want to make the one year experience the best
I’ve ever had in my whole entire life.
I’ve always wanted to live in America
and travel to a different country.
“I am so thankful for everything that I’ve done
to be in the exchange program.
Also I want to thank my family, school
and the community who I have made proud.
“My mum is from Beagle Bay which
is the Nyul Nyul and Bardi tribe.
My father is from Kununurra which is the Mirrowong tribe.
“I’m from Beagle Bay Community
which is 180 kilometres north of Broome.”

Joshua said he also wanted to thank Wongutha principal
Shane Meyer for all his support. During the trip,
Joshua will be staying in Fillmore, California,
with a family that has two adult children.

Western Australia

If you're looking for a uniquely Australian experience,
a station stay can be the way to go.
Often, these cattle stations and farms are still working
and offer an authentic taste of life in the outback,
along with a range of accommodation options
, from traditional camp and caravan sites to fishing shacks
and rustic station hand's cottages.
